The car bombs that ripped through the Egyptian holiday resort of Sharm el-Sheikh
early yesterday morning, killing at least 83 people,
acted as a horrifying reminder that no single reason can be said to trigger
al-Qaeda's appetite for indiscriminate slaughter.
