Le present perfect se traduit souvent par le présent ou par le passé composé. L’auxiliaire have peut se rendre par l’auxiliaire avoir ou être, ou ne pas se traduire, comme dans le titre ci-dessus -> Bush : notre mission au Moyen-Orient ne fait que commencer Certains énoncés ci-dessous montrent l’opposition prétérit / present perfect.
